Searching for a job can suck if you constrain yourself to the typical tools such as online jobs boards, trade publications, CraigsList, and networking with only your close friends. In these kinds of times, you need to use all the weapons that you can, and one that many people don’t—or at least don’t use to the fullest extent, is LinkedIn.
LinkedIn has over thirty-five million members in over 140 industries. Most of them are adults, employed, and not looking to post something on your Wall or date you. Executives from all the Fortune 500 companies are on LinkedIn. Most have disclosed what they do, where they work now, and where they’ve worked in the past. Talk about a target-rich environment, and the service is free.

Facebook clocks fifth birthday
Facebook is giving its 150 million users a mystery virtual gift to celebrate its fifth birthday.
The gift shop's presents usually range from cuddly bears to a pint of beer and from champagne to a four-leaf clover.
Founder Mark Zuckerberg said, "In the spirit of celebrating connections between people, we encourage you to use this gift to give thanks to [those] you are connected with on Facebook."
In the battle for online friends, Facebook is now the world leader.
In a blog post, Mr Zuckerberg acknowledged the company's work in achieving its place as the biggest social network to date.
"Building and moving quickly for five years hasn't been easy, and we aren't finished.
"As we celebrate Facebook's 5th birthday, we continue to work hard to evolve Facebook and make it as simple as possible to communicate with and understand the people and entities that matter to you," wrote Mr Zuckerberg.
In the blog he has also taken a trip down memory lane and shared old images of how the site has changed since it was launched in 2004.

The path to modern-day computing is longer than many suspect, and strewn with interesting nuggets of information. These include:
- the inventor of e-mail can't remember when he got it working- Pac-Man was modelled on a pizza and called Puck-Man until vandals forced a name change- the first hard drive had a 5MB capacity and could only be moved by a fork-lift truck- in 1980, The Times reported with wonder that a word processor could be bought for £3,500- Deep Blue's chess victory over Garry Kasparov was described as a 'psychological triumph'.

A hands-on preview of Windows 7
Microsoft has released an early preview copy of its new operating system, Windows 7.
The release follows in the wake of Vista, which has been subject to fierce criticism from a number of users.
When Vista launched in January 2007, many complained that it ran slowly and failed to work at all with some programs and devices.
Corporate customers have been slow to switch from Windows XP to Vista, although Microsoft said that the operating system had an unfair press, and that it enjoyed record sales.
Despite this Microsoft has extended the life of Windows XP so PC makers can continue selling it to those that do not want to upgrade.

Thousands hit in broad Web hack
Hackers have launched a massive Web hacking campaign, putting malicious links on as many as 10,000 servers, security vendor Kaspersky Lab warned Friday.
"We’re estimating that in the last two days alone, between 2,000 and 10,000 servers, mainly Western European and American ones, have been hacked," Kaspersky wrote on its Web site Friday, "It’s not yet clear who’s doing this."
The attackers are most likely using compromised accounts on the Web sites or launching what's known as a SQL injection attack, where hackers trick the Web site's software into inadvertently running malicious
